The Trinity. The Godhead. The Immortal 3 in 1. All-Knowing. All-Seeing. All-Powerful.
After 44 years of attending services, listening to sermons and studying the Bible myself… I’m still not sure I completely understand the way it works. However, one thing I can know is that the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit work as one. We can also know, from studying the Scriptures, that this is supposed to be an inspirational lesson for us as Christians.
Do you remember the prayer of Jesus in John 17? Jesus spoke about the disciples, and the future church, working together in the same unity as the Godhead. The consistent message of Scripture is that the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are One God (Deuteronomy 6:4, Mark 12:29).
In John 16:13-15 Jesus said, "But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on His own; He will speak only what He hears, and He will tell you what is yet to come. He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known to you. All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will take from what is mine and make it known to you."
The Holy Spirit confirms that not only did the Father send Jesus (His Son) to the earth... but that Jesus' words of truth are from the Father. The Holy Spirit inspired men to write the Bible. (Psalm 33:6, John 14:26, II Timothy 3:16, II Peter 1:21).
What an amazing illustration of unity! The Godhead works as ONE! Wouldn't it be nice if God's people did the same?
