Do you picture God gavel in hand? Behind His giant throne? Condemning you for everything you do that is wrong? With lightening bolts in His hands? Just waiting to catch you when you slip up? Is God out to get you?
Let me help to settle those anxious thoughts. That's not the image the Bible paints as the True & Living God. God does judge us but He’s not against us (Romans 8:31). His judgment is always fair and full of mercy.
God is NOT out to punish us. In fact, He places opportunities and people in our way to save us! He sent His One & Only Son to die for us (John 3:16-17, Acts 2:38). No doubt there has to be punishment for our sins, but if you are covered in His blood... Jesus has paid the bill. If you are in Christ you are saved from wrath and judgment. By redeeming us with His precious blood we are now His greatest possession to be kept safe until judgment. The Holy Spirit is a witness of this seal (Ephesians 1:13-14).
If you are still breathing... GOD HAS NOT JUDGED YOU YET! You are free to live without fear if you walk with Him. Hebrews 9:27 says, "people are destined to die once and AFTER THAT to face judgment." (NIV, emphasis mine) Live everyday for Him and remember you are loved.
Stop thinking so negatively about God and believe in the grace of God. Keep walking in the Light (I John 1:7). Have a great week!
