I’m often struck by the consistency of God’s faithfulness. He promises and He delivers. I Corinthians 1:9 says, ”God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.” Faithfulness means that God’s always does what He says without fail. Deuteronomy 7:9 says God is “faithful God” and cannot become unfaithful.
This is His nature. In fact, His faithfulness is closely related to His attributes of truth, justice and goodness. It is impossible to be faithful without these things. In this… His nature proves He will always be faithful. If not how else could He be honest? It’s not likely we would ever find a good and just person living an inconsistent life. Faithfulness means that God is ALWAYS truthful, just and good. Nothing He does violates those principles. God’s thoughts, words, and actions toward us are expressed in various ways but those are consistent.
God’s faithfulness is also an expression of many other traits like His love, grace and mercy. The list could go on and on. The bottom line is that people in this world will disappoint you but the Creator of this world can be trusted because He is faithful! Psalm 18:30 says, "As for God, His way is perfect; The word of the Lord is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him." Lean on Him. Trust Him. He is with you!
